There is a lot to love about Puerto Los Gatos. I’ll let the pictures do the talking since I fear that my adjectives are getting pretty tired.
Globular red rocks. Tide pools that resemble infinity pools. Turtle sculptures (didn’t see a real one, unfortunately). So many layers! …and contrasting colors. I could just eat it up…like melting strawberry ice cream. I believe this is either Baja California Cholla (Cylindropuntia cholla) or the Coast Cholla (Cylindropuntia prolifera). Either way, I’m pretty sure it’s a cholla. Clearly a succulent, though I don’t know what it’s called. Galloping cactus (Stenocereus gummosus). Apparently the fruit is pretty tasty… Underwater plants! More underwater plants! I want a dress that looks like this. Neon starfish. I’m not good enough at underwater photography to get pictures of things that actually…move. Pelicans in formation at sunrise, Isla Santa Cruz and Isla San Diego at sunrise.
While this anchorage was incredibly gorgeous…it left a bit to be desired in the fishing department. You’ll see what I mean after watching this video.
It’s only fair to point out that Jeff did spear a fish earlier in the day while snorkeling…which attracted some denizens of the deep when he used it as bait. Though the denizens were not the kind you want to eat, unless you have a thing for possibly fatal delicacies.
